A company survives by becoming inheritable. A person survives by the opposite.
Inheritable is an operating condition, not a value. Direction has to be able to refuse something in a room the founder is not in. The numbers have to survive the departure of the one person who knows which column to trust, and the process has to keep moving with roles in it rather than names. A machine can only inherit what it can reach, and everything still living in somebody’s head is invisible to it.
A person goes the other way. If everything you do can be written down and handed over, you have described a task list, and the book will show you what happens to task lists. What you hold is the part that never reduces to a procedure. Deciding what should be done. Catching the machine when it is confidently wrong. Re-forming when the written-down part grows again, which it will, every year, faster.
